Things to Enjoy in Cabo

Booze Cruise in Cabo San Lucas

Fall has arrived, schools are back in session and football is all the rave.  There are a lot of things to enjoy in Cabo, but right now I am dreaming of the beautiful blue waters of Los Cabos!  After traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for 15 years it feels like my home away from home.

September through November is a great time to visit Cabo. The crowds are smaller, no waiting in lines, easy to get reservations at my favorite restaurants.  And a great perk, the prices drop. After living in Los Angles for 14 years, this really appeals to me.

One of my favorite activities while in Cabo San Lucas is cruising on the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.  There are lots of options for cruising, but I always return to Blue Sky Cabo because of their willingness to do whatever it takes to make the cruise the best. Their yachts are just beautiful, clean and roomy. The mates are friendly and speak English.  The captains are top notch and have many years of experience. Whatever you would like to do, Blue Sky will make it happen. No middleman with Blue Sky Cabo. Jim will set you up and make your dreams come true in Cabo.

Sailing out to sea from the marina of Cabo San Lucas, the ocean comes to life with beautiful color. The mountains surrounding the city of Cabo as well as the beautiful rock formations is breath taking.

During the early evening one might enjoy a sunset cruise with limitless drinks perfect for travelers looking to catch Los Cabos’ party spirit. The time of day makes for incredible photographs while good tunes and appetizers are the icing on the cake! Coming back into the marina, Poncho the elephant seal comes aboard for his nightly snack of fresh fish. Honestly, this is so cool!

Lands End (El Arco)

Located at the southern tip of Cabo San Lucas and squeezed in between Playa del Amor and Playa del Divorcio, these rock creations were shaped from the turbulent winds and seas of the southern Baja Peninsula. A really romantic area to stop, take in the beautiful scenery and snap a few pictures.  The seals love this area. They are playing on the rocks barking and having a good time. Be aware that this is not a good place for swimming. The surf can get very rough, even pulling swimmers out toward the ocean. You will need to take a boat out to this area since you can’t reach it by foot.

Lovers Beach

Also known as Playa Del Amor, Lover’s Beach is one of Cabo’s most beautiful areas of shoreline. Located south of Cabo’s Marina, and is easily accessible by boat. Locals say this stretch of sand is fun and relaxing, providing breath-taking views of the blue water and a great spot for sunbathing.

Keep in mind Lover’s Beach can lose its romantic appeal. Why? There are no bathrooms or bars, and some travelers complain of pesky flies. Don’t forget to bring bug spray.

Medano Beach (Playa el Medano)

Another must do is Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas. Medano Beach is overlooking the Cabo San Lucas Bay, which is near the Cabo San Lucas Marina. The beach is about 2 miles long with beautiful sand and tons of activity!  It seems to be the most frequently visited beach in the area. There are a host of activities including parasailing, kayaking, jet skiing, wonderful hotels and restaurants. Also a safe swimming beach. JT Water Sports can provide most anything you might want to rent; they have been in business for two decades. If you are looking to do more air type sports check out Cabo Sky Tours, they can offer hang gliding flyovers for all the landmarks.

One super fun thing to do is take a water taxi over to Medano Beach. You can get a water taxi at the Marina. On the way over it’s enjoyable seeing the views of Lovers Beach, Divorce Beach and Lands End.

On Medano Beach you will see many vendors selling goods such as bottled waters, hand made jewelry and many other clothing items.  Medano Beach is very poplar for cantinas and luxurious resorts.   ME Cabo is a cool and poplar resort with the LA Hollywood jet setters. The Nikki Beach Club and the hot Passion nightclub keep things shaken. Poolside DJ’s will be playing good tunes while you layback and relax in the fabulous Cabo sun!

Check out the Bahia Hotel, which is one of my favorites. It sets a block or two off the beach but has a real cool boutique vibe. The hotel rooms are very appealing, making it seem cozy and easy on the eye. Prices are affordable which is always a plus.

If you are traveling with family, check out the Villa de Palmer, which offers comfy suites, great location and lots of amenities.  Be sure to check out the whale shaped water slide, kids love it! Nightly entertainment is poplar!

For affordability, check out the Cabo Villas Beach Resort. Consider their award winning restaurant Edith’s.  Reviews are very good! This hotel provides wonderful views and super penthouse suites, some say the best in Cabo.

The stunning Casa Dorado Beach Resort has a super beachfront setting; great service and views that will make you wish you lived in Cabo year round. Take time to relax with cool refreshments and watch the cruise ships and charter fishing boats coming in to port. I have been to their spa; it is very good for body treatments and massages. What a way to start or end the day!

Baja Cantina! Is on the beach. Their restaurant offers relaxing lounge chairs and is more laid back than some of the other restaurants. Call and check their theme for the night. Dressing up for the occasion enhances the experience. You might enjoy dining with your toes in the sand too.

Baja Brewing Company is in the Cabo Villas Beach Resort. If you love rooftop dining, you will not be disappointed. Try the locally brewed beers. I love their wood fired pizza!!  Topping off the evening, is live music, you won’t want to leave.

The Office is a must see and do! This establishment has been going strong since 1970’s and is one of the MOST popular stops. Food and drinks are very good!  Some of the tables are on the sand, lots activities going on at the Office.  I enjoyed the people watching there immensely.

Tabasco Beach Restaurant & Bar doesn’t get as much attention as some of the other big names but is one of the best places to just hang out on the sun deck or sitting in a chase lounge on the beach. Great views.

If you are into a bit of mischief, then check out the Mango Deck. It’s a wild place for sure! Open 365 days a year with all kinds of games. The non-stop stage show offers everything from beer drinking contests, Cabo Breakers break dance routines, jello and tequila shots, the Spanish Folkloric Dancers, and often times; the Mexican Cowboy vaquero rope tricks exhibition. Non-stop action!! Rated R (at times).

So what are you waiting for? Get your booty down to Cabo and have the time of your life!!
