In four weeks, I will be leaving for the most incredible vacation ever! I’ve been returning back to Cabo San Lucas now for over 15 years and of all the fascinating places on earth, this one tops my list. Why? Well, generally speaking it is just incredible beautiful, the fishing is exhilarating the people are so friendly and the water is the most beautiful of any destination I’ve ever seen.
This time of year is when the whales are migrating to warmer waters. If you have never been out on a beautiful yacht, well that too is an amazing feeling. The whales are migrating around 6000 miles down to the Cabo area to have their young. The whales love the warm shallow water of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific surrounding Cabo. These gentle giants are amazing to observe, breeching in the beautiful blue waters around the Baja Peninsula. From the shore or from any hotel or condo balcony facing the sea you can take in their blowing of air, jumping up with their young and gracefully gliding across the waters. Or if you want to, I would HIGHLY recommend taking one of Jim’s luxury yachts out for a closer view and do a little fishing too!
Along with seeing gray, humpback and blue whales you are likely to see dolphins, sea turtles, orcas, manta rays, mobula rays, California sea lions and a variety of sharks.
Lately, reports of baby humpback whales are parading in with their proud mothers. Most were just born this month and many in pairs. Amazingly enough, the babies usually weigh in around 500 to 600 kg and are about 4 meters long. When they leave Cabo, they are about twelve feet long! The babies are a light soft gray color, but their skin will get darker with sun exposure. Sightings are often of the baby’s breaching while following their mothers, then a tail slap or two!! Super exciting to see so close up on one of Cabo San Lucas Fishing’s luxury yachts. Humpback whales are said to be the most acrobatic of all whales and the pectoral fin of an adult humpback whale can be as long as 15 feet!
Whale watching excursions in Cabo San Lucas is big business. You don’t need to go out vary far for a close up viewing. Cabo San Lucas Fishing can offer you any type of excursion you would like, tailored to your own preference. If you would like to fish and whale watch, they can definitely accommodate your wishes. Jim is there to answer any questions and desires. I can’t wait to go out fishing myself several times while in the area. It’s the highlight of my trip!!! With all the sea life and all the incredible options Cabo San Lucas Fishing offers, there’s no way things could be any better. Did I mention the four beautiful choices of yachts, the option to select your time of day to fish, how long you want to fish or whale watch or just sail? You can tailor your own adventure; Jim will do all he can to assure the experience of a lifetime. I always feel very safe with the captain and crew, they make for a luxurious trip. Plus, the first time you see a massive 20 ton whale jumping for the sky, singing and flopping in the beautiful waters of Cabo San Lucas, you will never be the same.
Another wonderful way to get out on the sea, is to go on a sunset cruise. I always take advantage of this incredible service provided by Cabo San Lucas Fishing. If you book a fishing excursion, you will automatically be able to do this as well. Now that’s a GRAND bonus! The cruise are about two hours that will take you past Lovers Beach, the Arch, Pelican Rock, and Lands End, then heads west around the Pacific coast. The panoramic views are breath taking! You can see the beauty of the incredible topography of Cabo San Lucas, the beautiful resorts and jaw dropping architecture of the homes located on the cliffs above the ocean. And let’s not forget the sunset… WOW!!!! Bring your camera! (By the way, Jim provides a professional photographer for free)! You are also welcome to bring the beverage of your liking and enjoy an incredible casual but beautiful fun on the water experience aboard the Blue Sky Cabo yacht!!! On your way back at sunset to the marina there is a good chance you will get a surprise visitor, by way of the back of the yacht, Poncho the Sea Lion! I have to say I love Poncho! He is just thrilling to me!!!!! Ha-ha
People from all over the world are escaping the winter weather and heading to Cabo San Lucas. I encourage you to plan ahead and get your on the water experience booked in advance. I sure have booked mine CANNOT WAIT! Give Jim a call, or text with him on the website, tell him what you want, and he will make it happen. Hope to see you there!!!
