The hustle and bustle of the season has come to an end, but the fishing is still going strong. Current temperatures are a wonderful 75 to 80 degrees in the cape. Resident fishing charters are mainly fishing in the area of Gordo Banks, Red Hill, San Luis and north to Vinorama. Clearly the activity was more intermittent but the catches were very nice. Fishing was good with catches of yellowfin tuna, wahoo and dorado, some triggerfish and a few snapper and cabrilla.
Nearly each day large sized tuna are being caught, up near the Gordo Banks, several yellowfin weighing in at 145 pounds and another was over 330 pounds! All in all, these were great fishing trips in Cabo!

“Blue Sky Cabo gave me the opportunity to mark deep-sea fishing off my bucket list! I am so pleased with their expert guidance and attention during our 8-hour excursion. From getting us coffee to making breakfast, our crew was the epitome of great service! Mario is a first-rate First Mate!! He showed us what to do, how to do it, and enjoyed our experience as much as we did! It is evident he truly enjoys what he does!! Ulises took care of all our galley needs, assisted Mario & the captain, along with capturing all our fun on camera for us!! Captain Julio safely guided us all day and made sure we missed nothing! We saw sea turtles and whales thanks to his observant eye! We ended the trip feeding leftover bait to wonderful sea lions and got to see the Arch, which is not to be missed!! I have been deep-sea fishing all over the world and Blue Sky tops the list of experience and service. This was our second trip with them, returning because of our first experience. This was one was the best outing I had, anywhere.
“First, the non-fishing elements that setup such a great trip: easy to book, well coordinated, great directions and follow up, flexible, and here’s the biggest thing – Jim, the owner really seems to care and more importantly, it reflects in the people who work with him.
The two biggest things that made this a memorable trip and show Blue Sky is top-notch outfits are: 1 – in the last minute, we had friends with young children who wanted to join on the boat. They had no deep sea fishing experience and why they wanted to go with us. So, we are now 8 people total, 4 are young girls ages 8-12. Not your model charter but Blue sky was accommodating last minute and the crew smiled when we arrived. 2 – Even with a 6am departure, Captain Julio called Jim to let him know we arrived and Jim took the time to welcome us on the boat and share the local information on the bite and prepared us for what we might expect on the water. Nice touch Jim!
For the fishing, well, just a great day. Our last minute friends were seasick for most of it but were able to get a taste of what Cabo had to offer. 3 double mahi/dorado hook ups and 8 in the boat. Kids were thrilled and so were the first timers who got to reel something in. I was able to get my kids interested enough to even reel one in. My 9 year old got a nice mahi for her first. My 12 year old reeled in a marlin, her first. They’re hooked on fishing now!
